The center release bearing is an important component of the clutch. It interrupts the power transmission between the engine and the transmission by releasing the pressure plate from the clutch disc. The release bearing is exposed to high mechanical and hydraulic forces, which is why signs of wear may appear as the vehicle ages. If the power transmission is not completely interrupted when the clutch is depressed, this indicates a defect in the release bearing.
